Zachary McFadden has loved Amanda Daniels since the first moment he saw her, when she was just 17 years old. Knowing the love in his heart would hold up to the test of time, Zachary waited for Amanda to finish college and grow into a woman before pursuing her. But did he wait too long?
Amanda Daniels hasn’t had the easiest life. Her mother committed suicide and her father fell to alcoholism, leaving Amanda to be raised by her grandmother. Early on, Amanda decided that love wasn’t worth it...the hurt in her life so far had told her that she needed to protect herself because few others would. Mandy didn’t want to fall in love, didn’t want to need anyone again...she knew how easily people fail each other.
But when her grandfather is dying, Amanda calls on Zach and in her grief, she and Zach make desperate and passionate love. When Amanda finds out she is pregnant, Zach marries her, elated to be with the love of his life and full of hope for their future together.
But life has a way of getting in the way and when tragedy strikes, Amanda’s first impulse is to run away, as far and as fast as she can. Zach knows that he loves Amanda with all of his heart, but will his love be able to heal the wretched beating her heart has already taken...?
When a Man Loves a Woman Bette Ford Books
This story was terrible! Now do not get me wrong I am a Bette Ford fan but this book was pointless and frustrating. By the time I finished the book I wanted to toss my IPad across the room. The characters and plot was unbelievable. At the beginning of the book I was rooting for the characters by the end I was shouting just end the story without a "happy ending". I have enjoyed all of Bette Ford older books but her recent books are a struggle to get through the female characters usually have some serious issues and and the story ends abruptly. In this story the female character is married but has no contact with her husnd for almost year but quick to tell anyone she is married. Enter this amazing husband and she spends 95% fighting him on EVERYTHING. You have the makings of a strong woman who has it all together physically, financially and professionally I'm thinking to myself "get some help girl and keep your man". Again, I love "old school" Bette Ford and wish she would revert to that writing.

When a Man Loves a Woman Bette Ford Books Reviews
Zachary McFadden and Amanda Daniels were meant for each other. Zachary knew it from the start, Amanda had yet to discover it for herself. However, she finally found the courage (and good sense) to fight against childhood demons, insecurity and tragic losses to embrace this wonderful, strong man's love. Bette Ford never lets me down! An excellent, heart-tugging, sexy book...a must read.
This story was fantastic. As a matter of fact all of her books are. I can't until she starts writing affinity.
I must say that the title was well suited for this book. When Zach receives divorce papers he is not believing it and is willing to try to make his marriage work although it has only been a year. Don't get me wrong, there are some marriages worth fighting for success while there are some that just aren't meant to be. The title tells you how much this man loved his woman and is determined to keep her in his life.
Enjoyed this book very much. The story was good from the beginning keeps you reading to find out what happens. Great love story
Lots of patience is required here both in getting through the book and with the heroine. She just didn't seem to know what she did or didn't want. She was pushing him away but still trying to pull him back. it just goes to show that all human beings are indeed unique because some other persons would have dealt with the situations here differently. All I have to say though is HE DID LOVE HER for all the years he waited before getting her and then when he did something else happened that he waited again. Ms. Ford is a master at this.
I had never read any of Bette Ford's work before this one. I was hooked when Zack walked into the restaurant. And, the night Amanda came home with her business date, who wanted to be more, and Zack opened the door to HER apartment before she could find her keys, greets her with, "Hey, pretty girl. Forget your key?" Then brush her lips with his own. Priceless. I was hopelessly in love--desiring a man who is that smooth. This is a great read for all of you out there who enjoy a good romance novel. If you have not already found that true love, this book will put you on your knees--praying for him.
I really enjoyed this story of a man patiently waiting for the woman he loves to grow up an be able to accept his love. Amanda believing Zach only married her because she was expecting his child files for divorce after experiencing a tragedy. Unknown to her Zach has been in love with her for years and refuses to allow her to divorce him. He persuades her to give their marriage another chance. They had to work through issues involving their relationship and an interfering disapproving mother in law (Zach's Mother). A good read.
